Downhill World Cup 2019 - Les Gets

Juli 15 — 2019 | Les Gets, France

One week after her shoeless feat, Nina Hoffmann was back on the World Cup track in Les Gets, France. It seems as though each course challenges the next to be the fastest and Les Gets came up strong with grassy turns, dust, big jumps, and more dust.

Right away in her practice, Nina realized this was an all or nothing kind of race. Unfortunately, in a jarring experience for the Women's Elite riders, Rachael Atherton ruptured her Achilles during practice on a large gap jump, an injury that could potentially put her out for the rest of the season. Nina would need full speed throughout to get on the podium and calculated risks to get to the bottom safely.

Qualifiers did not go ideally for the German rider, she crashed twice, one of which was a substantial crash on the same gap jump that gave Atherton troubles. Overall, she finished 19th in the round. After a tough day at the office, Nina came back determined for a top result and a safe ride. She hit the starting gate determined to be precise in her riding and have a smooth run, she sent it on the gap jump that gave her trouble the day before and finished 5th on the day. Nina sits in 4th overall and hopes to make it back into the top 3 after the next rounds.

See you in Val di Sole!
