    Clare Hamilton

    Boulder, Colorado

Clare still wakes up surprised to be a professional enduro racer. “I have to kind of pinch myself, I never would have imagined that I would be paid to do something I love.” Her first experience with racing came in high school when she rode a NICA cross-country race on a hardtail that she borrowed from her mom.

In college, her coach encouraged her to try gravity racing and Clare finished her first season with a proud 2nd place at collegiate national championships. By the end of her second season, Clare won both the men’s and women’s downhill races and the dual slalom race at the championships.

Clare excels at resort-style ripping and she loves to hit her local bike park at Valmont on her dirtjump bike. Clare’s currently focused on combining her gravity skills with the long-ride fitness she needs for all-day events. As a student studying environmental design, Clare feels the time crunch of balancing school and training. Plus, she’s contributing to a project to build a net-zero home and also finds time for woodworking and baking bread. “Basically if the day ends with me covered in bike grease, sawdust, or flour, it’s been a good one.”

What’s your day job? What’s your favorite part about your day job? What’s your least favorite part about your day job?

"I am second (and last) in command at a small company that designs and builds timber frame houses. My favorite part of the job is that I get to be involved in both the design and the fabrication/raising of a building. I get to put both my mind and hands to work every day to create something tangible and useful, and it’s always satisfying to come home with calluses at the end of the day. My least favorite part about the gig is the commute."
