Enduro World Series 2019 - Les Orres

July 11 — 2019 | Les Orres, France

The fifth round of the Enduro World Series took riders to the South of France. Juliana had a strong crew representing from all over the world with young rider Raphaela Richter leading the charge with her 1st EWS of the season. Morgane Charre and Tanja Naber continued their tour with the series with a stop in Les Orres and Canadian riders, Britt Phelan from the Juliana | SRAM Pro Team and Free Agent Laura Battista, popped over to take part. It was a Juliana party in the pits and the girls were ready to take on the eight-stage course of dusty alpine descents.

Practice day had all the girls hustling, but hot weather and a prior illness had Britt focusing her health while Laura caught some bad luck coming in hot on a rock drop feature and ended up taking a dirt and rock sample, resulting in a broken metacarpal. Both riders got put on the sidelines to heal up and cheer on their teammates through the weekend.

Come race day, the course was dusty and lose until a surprise rainstorm canceled Stage 5. The second half of the stages was still hot, but a little less unpredictable as far as conditions go.

Raphaela, Morgane, and Tanja all raced the two days with precision and consistency. Raphaela took charge early on by winning 2 stages and finishing 2nd overall, only 29 seconds behind the overall leader Isabeau Courdurier. Morgane finished in a strong 7th and remains in the top 3 overall. Tanja Naber finished 25th on the weekend and is heading home to rest up after a big month of racing!
