Downhill World Cup 2019 - Maribor

April 29 — 2019 | Maribor, Slovenia

This is a big year for racing and the Juliana Team. For the first time in a long time, we have athletes competing at UCI Downhill World Cup events.

The Juliana racers joined up with the Santa Cruz Syndicate to hit Maribor, Slovenia, a track known for running the gambit of natural and man-made features. An insane rock garden, grisly roots, and big compressions made the season kick-off an exciting one.

New bike, who dis?

A new season brings new bikes to the Juliana athletes racing World Cups. Nina Hoffman and Morgane Charre are shredding the Santa Cruz V10 with a custom iridescent paint job under the Juliana livery.

Practice & Qualifiers

The athletes started out strong, yet cautious, as the rain started to come down on the qualifying round. Nina took off before the rain and had a solid run in the dry track, qualifying 4th for race day. Morgane got caught in the downpour and rode a little too conservatively to qualify to race on Sunday. That's racing, but she'll continue to focus on the Enduro World Series and we look forward to watching her crush it at the next EWS in Madiera.

Race Day

Nina's strong start and held the fastest time of the day in the first timed section. She looked great out there and was sending it on the steeper DH sections and riding fast to clinch an impressive 6th place finish.

Sent ... Nina pushes for a 6th place finish.

What a great start to the season. Watch out, these riders will only get stronger as the season progresses.
